Cursor vs Claude Code: Which AI Coding Tool Should You Use?
AIToolsCursorClaude CodeDevelopers
Both tools are excellent, and both are powered by frontier models. The real question is how you like to work.
Cursor — the AI-native editor
Cursor is a full editor (a VS Code fork) with AI woven in. If you live in your editor and want inline edits, tab-completion, and a chat that sees your whole project, it feels natural. Great for steady, in-flow coding.
Claude Code — the agentic terminal
Claude Code runs in your terminal and leans agentic: give it a goal and it explores, edits across files, runs commands, and verifies. Great for larger multi-file tasks and automation where you want the model to drive.
The honest answer
Use both. Cursor for hands-on editing, Claude Code for "go do this whole task." Whichever you pick, your output quality is capped by your prompts — which is exactly why we built the Vault.
